- High School diploma or equivalent is required
- Must have Pennsylvania Title 53 (Act 120) Certification prior to beginning employment no later than three months post offer - Must have Pennsylvania Title 53 (Act 120) Certification prior to beginning employment no later than three months post offer
- Must be a citizen of the United States - Must be 21 years of age or older - Must possess a valid driver’s license - At the time of appointment, must be a resident of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania - Must possess the requisite skills, knowledge and abilities to be a police officer - Must be physically capable to perform the duties of a police officer - Must meet the certification requirements of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Lethal Weapons Training Act (Act 235) - Must be of good moral character. Any candidate offered employment, must submit to a background investigation, to include: - A criminal record check for convictions of any disqualifying criminal offense - A credit history check - A driving record - A drug screen for drug and alcohol which shall be determined using laboratory testing procedures - Be personally examined by a Pennsylvania licensed psychologist and found to be psychologically capable to exercise appropriate judgment or restraint in performing the duties of a police officer - Must have the visual and hearing acuity acceptable for performing all functions and responsibilities of a police officer as specified by the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission |
