ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for assisting in the lab for PTA classes to help ensure the courses are successful and provide students with additional hands-on practice, supervision, and feedback. The schedule would be 12-4 on Thursdays for fall 2024 (Intro to PTA) and spring 2025 (Modalities). The applicant should be a licensed PT or PTA with recent experience with patients and with modalities commonly seen in PT clinics.

This is a semester based, 8-15 hour/week non-tenure track position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists Instructor with preparation of labs, carrying out laboratory activities, practical examinations and skill proficiency check offs for various PTA classes and open lab hours as assigned. 

2. Maintains current knowledge of the physical therapy profession, clinical skills, and educational methodology through continuing professional development.

3. Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, CAPTE accreditation requirements and community service.

EDUCATION:

- Highest Academic Degree of Physical Therapy education, or if a Physical Therapist Assistant: an Associate Level Degree, and must show evidence of continued professional development

- A Physical Therapist or a Physical Therapist Assistant with current licensure / certification in Pennsylvania

EXPERIENCE:

- At least one year post-graduation clinical experience; experience supervising and educating PT and/or PTA students preferred.

- College teaching experience in health care or related fields preferred.

- Familiarity or experience with CAPTE Accreditation requirements for PTA programs preferred.
