ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

The Manager of the Instrumentation, Control/Data Analysis program will assist the Program Director with the management of the program.  He/She will be responsible for instructing four (4) classes per semester as assigned.  He/She will also develop and instruct Professional Education courses (continuing education).

This is a twelve-month position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Deliver effective preparation and instruction using up to date and cutting-edge contemporary methods with a strong outcomes-based teaching model. Develop course materials and make them accessible to students through an online campus program.
  2. Establish and adhere to regular office hours and be available to conduct tutoring for student support and retention.
  3. Collaborate with the Program Director on curriculum and procurement of necessary equipment and textbook selection for the Instrumentation, Control/Data Analysis Program courses.  Emphasis for curriculum development in this position will be PNG specific courses and related laboratory exercises, and expansion of the instrumentation/PLC curriculum as necessary.
  4. Participate in faculty sessions to review curriculum and work to coordinate the core PNG curriculum with other Program Managers and instructors.
  5. Remain current in petroleum and natural gas industry trends and requirements by attending a minimum of one week of outside training annually.
  6. Represent the School of PNG at industry conventions, meetings or publicity events as needed.
  7. Serve on student disciplinary committee.
  8. Support the continued growth of the School of PNG.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  1. Competent in Windows Office 2010 Software and capability for additional software introduction from industry in lab.
  2. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and oversight.
  3. Ability to relate and communicate with students and to explain technical issues clearly and in understandable terms. 
  4. Ability to design and structure teaching plan for assigned course instruction that accomplishes that class objectives.
  5. Ability to interact with industry personnel and incorporate industry needs into the Lackawanna College Instrumentation, Control/Data Analysis  Program.

EDUCATION:

-        Associate degree required.

-        Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or similar discipline preferred. 

EXPERIENCE:

-        5 to 10 years of industry/mechanical experience preferred.

-        Prior experience in engineering, applications, operations, business development, design, management, or industrial manufacturing or processing.

-        Industry experience and training in interpersonal relations, management, teaching, or sales.

-        Specific training and/or experience with Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering, Processing, Pipelining, Compression and Engines a plus.
