General Description of Work

The Communications Specialist will work in conjunction with the Communications & Marketing Manager. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to, assisting in creative content, public relations, social media management, development of marketing materials (i.e. press releases, blog articles, and more). They will be responsible to manage projects that aim to educate on the issue of homelessness, promotes the solution Keystone Mission has, and invites the community to participate.

Duties and Responsibilities

75% Creative Content Coordination

  • Write content and copy for fundraising and marketing purposes such as: monthly cultivation letters, e-mail campaigns, website, blog posts, marketing material, and more.
  • Produce creative content via digital design platforms via Adobe or Canva.
  • Assist in social media management for the organization.
  • Assist in the development of digital marketing materials including blog articles, social media posts and email communications in accordance with brand standards.
  • Help with planning, promoting and executing various promotions and events.
  • Assist in editing proposal drafts for grants.
  • Manage marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including social media, email marketing, print materials, and the organization’s website.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

25% Community Outreach

  • Represent the organization at local events, job fairs, volunteer fairs, and other functions that open opportunities for the community to get involved with Keystone Mission.
  • Steward relationships with perspective, active, and inactive donors/volunteers through phone calls, e-mails, handwritten notes, and personal invitations to the Mission.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent the required knowledge, skill, and ability.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to create compelling content.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with fundraising and donor engagement strategies is preferred.
  • Passion for the nonprofit sector and the organization’s mission.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and speaking skills and understanding of relationship management.
  • Ability to assess situations to determine importance, urgency, and risks, and make clear and sound decisions that are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
  • Ability to travel if necessary 

Education and Experience

Holds an Bachelor's degree, preferred, in Marketing, Communications, Creative Writing, or other similar field or provided evidence of 2 to 4 years equivalent and relevant experience.

Requirement: Keystone Mission is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, evangelical Christian organization. As such, employees must share the Mission's Statement of Faith and lifestyle and adhere to the Mission's employee policy manual and guidelines set forth by the CEO.
