The Social Worker will be responsible for helping clients with issues involving their mental and emotional health. The position is responsible for the intake and assessment of adults, children, and families in need of assistance and for determining the appropriate types and methods of treatment. This position will provide services to clients presenting with a range of problem areas and will utilize methodologies based on evidence-based practices and interventions. Specialties include psychotherapy with a diversity of populations, substance abuse, mental health disorders, domestic violence, and family and individual therapy. Therapeutic interventions are provided in the office, home, institutional, or school settings for individuals, couples, families, or groups.

1. Provide, within stated agency objectives, policies, and practices, a variety of direct counseling services (using individual, conjoint, family, and group methods) to clients having a multiplicity of problems; utilizes a full range of treatment/interventive skills and techniques; incorporates new and advanced counseling techniques into practice whenever appropriate; may develop a specialty in a particular area of counseling.

2. Formulate and implement treatment/interventive plans based on the preparation of complete, technical, and highly perceptive diagnostic evaluations; evaluates the client’s progress and modify or change counseling services accordingly.

3. Confer, on own initiative, and in regularly based supervisory process with the Executive Director regarding complex situations.

4. Present cases of difficulty to the Agency’s psychiatric consultant, as well as work collaterally with various other community agencies, professionals, and referral sources.

5. Review progress in professional development and growth objectives periodically with the Executive Director. Participates in continuing education courses as required.

6. Assess requests for financial aid and emergency food assistance.

7. Use designated measuring tools with clients to monitor progress and track outcome measurements.

8. Completes clinical documentation required to meet agency and accreditation standards.

9. Utilize the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders (DSM) as well as the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) for accurate coding for diagnosis classification.

10. Provide after-hours emergency telephone coverage on a rotating basis.

11. Serve as staff representative or liaison with agency Board committees, contributes ideas, and make recommendations on agency policies, practices, procedures, and programs, when called upon by Executive Director. 12. Maintain active involvement in the family social welfare area; participates in and may conduct professional seminars, conferences, JFLE workshops, etc., or in-service staff training programs; may prepare written material for publication to enhance agency image, program or related services. 13. Interpret the agency program to community groups or organizations and to others through case-related contacts; represents the agency in selected organizations or activities related to its goals.

12. Other duties as deemed necessary by the Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master of Social Work degree from an accredited school of Social Work.

Supervised experience in individual, family, and/or mental health counseling is required.

Must be eligible for PA State Social Worker License and maintain all requirements for licensure.

Familiarity with multicultural groups and client populations

Basic Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel necessary.
