The Enrollment Counselor is dedicated to supporting their assigned students by monitoring academic progress and fostering the achievement of educational goals through proactive outreach. The Enrollment Counselor builds and maintains strong relationships with students, guiding them along their unique academic journeys towards graduation and success. They are expected to demonstrate a high standard of work quality, professionalism, and familiarity with university policies.
The Enrollment Counselor collaborates closely with Enrollment Management staff, program directors, academic advisors, and other key student support offices, such as the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) and the Weinberg Memorial Library. They assist students in identifying any academic or personal obstacles to success, working to help them maintain steady academic progress. By providing relevant information and connecting students to essential resources, the Enrollment Counselor delivers support that is transformative, encouraging, and actively engaging.
- Partner with enrolled students to develop individualized and holistic goals and plans
- Support enrollment and retention while ensuring a high-quality educational experience
- Monitor academic progress for supported students and provide proactive intervention
- Serve as active listener and student advocate if necessary
- Maintain accurate student records within a CRM
- Develop and implement retention best practices and innovative student engagement initiatives
- Manage a specific group of assigned students and provide motivation and support throughout their academic program
- Conduct and document required sessions to identify motivations and potential challenges of student readiness
- Ability to identify and address retention risks through communication and problem solving.
- Build strong relationships and mentor students from the admittance of enrollment through graduation, serving as a guide for enrolled students as they navigate the college experience
- Closely monitor all assigned metrics and expectations of student retention
- Responsible for managing and updating computerized student management database, registration information, and follow-up documentation
- Demonstrate an elevated level of university knowledge of the college’s academic programs, requirements, and services
- Provide guidance and monitor student performance and progress including financial aid, class schedules, orientation, and class participation
- Always ensure compliance of all university policies
- Offer resources to help maximize the success of each student and act as a liaison for students and enable them to connect with various departments
- Adhere to the appropriate information security policies based on the sensitivity of data and report any security related issues
- Reduce risk of theft, fraud, or misuse of information assets by maintaining security and patch management for the services provided by the team
- Maintain and update accurate records and facilitate creation of university reports
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree plus a minimum of one (1) year of higher education experience
