ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assistant Coach conducts practices and clinics; the number, duration and content of those practices and clinics as determined by the Head Coach in the best interests of College.  
  2. Assistant Coach will teach, tutor and instruct team members on the rules and fundamentals of the sport.
  3. Assists with instruction and coaching to advance the performance of each athlete.
  4. Assists with supervising and coaching the team on all travel of the home and away events.
  5. Assists with recruiting for the program.
  6. Responsible for supervising team members at all times during practices, games, and other times as directed.
  7. Assists with fund raising efforts for the program.
  8. Ensures compliance with NJCAA; policies and procedures of Lackawanna College and their Athletic program
  9. Promotes the well-being of student-athletes.
  10. All other duties assigned by the Head Basketball Coach. 

 

 

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  1. Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
  2. Current certification in American Red Cross CPR / First Aid.  
  3. Trained in use of Automatic Electrodes Defibrillator (AED). 
  4. Knowledge of safety guidelines and protocol.
  5. Strong Leadership and Interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with others.
  7. Commitment to fulfillment of the College mission.
  8. Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  9. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

 

 

EDUCATION:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior coaching experience required.
  • Experience with recruiting preferred.
  • Experience with fundraising preferred.
