Assists the Dean in all matters related to the advancement and management of the College of Arts and Sciences. Supports innovation, implementation, quality and efficiency of programs/curriculum.
Essential Duties:
- Work with the Dean, Department Chairs, and Program Directors to advance initiatives related to the University and College Strategic plans
- Lead Student Learning Assessment and Academic Program Review/Impact Reports in the College. In collaboration with Dean, provides feedback to these reviews/reports to inform program development, program enhancement, and student success.
- Mine CAS data and relevant institutional data in support of student success and curricular innovation
- Coordinate data collection, analysis, and reporting of CAS in support of (a.) student success, (b.) CAS and university-wide strategic planning goals, and (c.) Dean’s reports and presentations
- Assist CAS faculty/staff in support of their data-gathering needs for program review/impact reports, rationales for faculty lines, program development, etc.
- Ensure optimal scheduling and staffing of courses as directed by Dean
- Promote faculty development to support student success, faculty success, curricular development and University Strategic Plan
- Liaise with Dean, Provost, and Office of the President in fostering partnerships with other institutions and organizations
- Co-Chair the College Curriculum and Assessment Committee
-Liaise with CAS Coordinator and other relevant departments/offices on campus regarding Passport opportunities for sophomores through seniors
- Liaise with the Institutional Research Office and Office of Educational Assessment in support of accreditation and strategic-planning needs
- Serve as the primary liaison to the Dean’s Office for student and parent issues
-Supervise the following positions: Assistant Director of Academic Advising Center, CAS Academic Advisors, Mechanical Engineering Machinist, Coordinator of CAS Academic Affairs, Radio Station Manager, Network Resource Technician, Coordinator of Language Learning Center, Chemistry Lab Supervisor, Chemistry Associate Lab Supervisor, Biology Lab Supervisor, Senior Laboratory Engineer, Animal Caretaker, and Coordinator of Field Placement and Certification in Education
- Supervise the Assistant Director of the Academic Advising Center to monitor student status information and provide this information as needed to appropriate offices, including the Registrar and Financial Aid
- Work with the Dean and the staff of the Dean’s Office on academic misconduct, probation, dismissal, and retention
- Act in place of the College Dean as needed, e.g., events, represent the College on committees and working groups
- Perform other duties as assigned by the College Dean
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or equivalent in a discipline represented in the College is required
- Ten (10) years of higher education teaching experience in a discipline represented in the College
- Academic rank at the level of Associate Professor
- Evidence of extensive experience in quantitative data analysis or data analytics (4 years preferred)
- Experience reporting and communicating about data analyses to various audiences
