ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

The Assistant Athletic Direct for Student Athlete Success and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) will provide leadership and advocacy for women’s athletics while also serving in a hybrid role that promotes student success and supports direct coaching responsibilities. This position ensures comprehensive support for student-athletes through academic mentoring, compliance oversight, and holistic development programs. The SWA will also serve as a head or assistant coach in one varsity sport, contributing to athletic development and team performance.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Senior Woman Administrator Duties

  • Provide mentorship and leadership to all coaches and student-athletes involved in women’s sports.
  • Represent female student-athlete interests at the institutional, conference, and national levels.
  • Participate in hiring processes for coaching staff.
  • Support strategic planning, fundraising, and program growth initiatives for women’s athletics.
  • Assist with NCAA eligibility and compliance tracking for all student-athletes.
  • Develop, conduct, and present educational sessions for students and staff focused on NCAA rules and regulations, with particular emphasis on academic eligibility requirements, including progress-toward-degree standards, GPA thresholds, credit hour requirements, and full-time enrollment status. Ensure all sessions provide practical guidance for maintaining compliance and supporting student-athlete academic success.
  • Implement inclusive practices to foster diversity and equity in athletic programs.
  • Promote recruitment and retention of female athletes and sport participation.

Student-Athlete Success Duties

  • Serve as the main point of contact for student-athlete academic initiatives.
  • Serve as the liaison between the Student Success, Academic and Athletic Departments to monitor academic performance and offer intervention solutions when students are at risk.
  • Provide oversight of all facets of academic support service programs and student-athlete development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, conference, and NCAA academic policies.
  • Guide students to identify and use academic support resources.
  • Respond to early alerts and coordinate support services based on student needs.
  • Participate in orientation, graduation, and institutional retention efforts.
  • Serve on college committees and support high-impact academic events.

Coaching Responsibilities

  • Serve as head or assistant coach of one varsity sport.
  • Plan and lead team practices, conditioning sessions, and competitive strategies.
  • Mentor student-athletes in both academic and athletic development.
  • Recruit prospective student-athletes and assist with retention efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA rules and institutional athletic policies.

Additional functions:

  • As well as other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Education, Counseling, Sport Management, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of five years’ experience working with at-risk students and student-athlete populations.
  • Prior experience in athletic administration, academic advising, or coaching at the collegiate level.
  • Proven record of supporting student success and compliance in a higher education setting.
