Commercial Loan Portfolio Manager

The Commercial Loan Portfolio Manager is responsible for supporting assigned Commercial Loan Officers in managing customer relationships, analyzing creditworthiness, and facilitating the commercial lending process. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with lending policies, preparing loan documentation, and identifying opportunities to cross-sell bank products and services. The position requires a strong understanding of financial analysis, credit evaluation, and commercial banking practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field; or a high school diploma with relevant banking experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Prior experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, or related banking role preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and adhere to HNB Loan Policy.
  • Provide analytical and operational support for up to three Commercial Loan Officers.
  • Analyze financial statements and conduct credit investigations to support loan decisions.
  • Prepare loan presentations for committees and the Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate with credit department to support fiscal spreads and cash flow analysis.
  • Coordinate loan closings with processing staff and legal representatives.
  • Manage risk evaluations and assist with annual reviews for credits over $1MM.
  • Develop and maintain processes to meet due diligence requirements for agency lending.
  • Service a portfolio of smaller commercial relationships under $20MM, including applicant interviews and financial review.
  • Identify and refer opportunities for cross-selling bank products and services.
  • Maintain current and compliant credit files, track receipt of financial statements, and prepare lender reports.
  • Assist in commercial loan collections, workouts, and troubled debt restructures.
  • Establish and maintain processes, policies and procedures in order to best meet the Bank’s due diligence requirements as they relate to its government agency lending program’
  • Draft and maintain an operations manual for the role and support process improvement initiatives.
  • Attend client meetings, joint calls, and community events to promote banking services.
  • Make recommendations to your supervisor about possible methods to improve the department.
  • Eventually learn to establish and negotiate loan and credit terms including interest rate, costs, repayment method, and collateral requirements.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed.
