Membership and Community Relations Manager
Location: Scranton, PA (In-office position)

The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, a catalyst for regional growth and business innovation in Northeastern Pennsylvania, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Membership and Community Relations Manager.
In this role, you will actively support member recruitment and retention, coordinate events and outreach activities, and build connections that enhance the value of Chamber membership. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Membership and Marketing.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Growth & Engagement
- Drive membership growth and retention by proactively cultivating relationships with current and prospective members, identifying opportunities to expand engagement and value.
- Support sales-focused outreach through presentations, grand openings, milestone celebrations, and personalized member check-ins to convert prospects and deepen existing member relationships.
- Document member feedback and follow up to ensure businesses see clear value in their Chamber membership
Event Planning & Support
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing Chamber events, ensuring they run smoothly and within budget
- Help secure event sponsorships by preparing materials and maintaining sponsor relationships
- Recruit and coordinate volunteer committees, ensuring members are engaged and supported
Marketing & Communications
- Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to share event details and member news via the Chamber’s website, social media, and print materials
- Provide accurate, timely information for outreach and promotional purposes
Community & Stakeholder Relations
- Build positive connections with community organizations, nonprofits, and key stakeholders
- Represent the Chamber at community events and support outreach activities that strengthen the Chamber’s visibility
Administration & Reporting
- Use membership software (Members Click /MC-Trade) to track engagement, retention activities, and event details
- Assist with preparing budgets, reports, and documentation in coordination with the Finance and Administration teams
- Contribute to the Chamber’s annual Program of Work through accurate tracking and support
Ideal Candidate Profile
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, or a related field preferred
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in sales, events, customer service, or community relations preferred
- Experience working directly with customers, volunteers, or community organizations a plus
Skills
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and membership/CRM databases
- Flexible and reliable in a fast-paced, public-facing environment
Logistics
- Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; the Chamber does not sponsor visas
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Must be available for occasional evening and weekend events
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and remain in a stationary position when needed
