Responsible for engineering and maintaining the information technology infrastructure including campus-wide network, enterprise servers, and telecommunications, required to support academic, administrative, and residential operations. Manages the Infrastructure Services department staff and operations.
Essential Duties
- Directs Network and Systems Administrators and Engineers, and Telecommunications Network Administrator and/or has direct management responsibility for multiple positions in the Infrastructure Services department
- Manages the enterprise network servers, and telecommunications, and information security infrastructure functions; including preparing a department Annual Report, managing budgets, recruiting, supervising, and developing staff, organizing projects, monitoring and prioritizing workflow
- Supervises the work of team members and conduct performance evaluations
- Designs, configures, and maintains the University’s network environment; including wired and wireless networks, and connectivity to service providers for data, voice, video, and Cable TV services
- Participates in the virtual Information Security Office group and operations
- Oversees the design and administration of network systems and storage, network routing infrastructure, segmentation strategies, load balancer configurations, firewall systems, intrusion prevention systems, data loss prevention tools, virtual private network access, and network border connectivity
- Oversees the design and installation of network, telecommunications, and RoyalCard infrastructure as it relates to campus construction projects
- Establishes benchmarks for network systems performance; performs regular review of performance metrics to ensure overall network health, including sufficient bandwidth capacity and reliable application performance
- Plans, organizes, and serves as project manager on enterprise infrastructure-related technology projects; functions as a senior technical resource for projects impacting network infrastructure, servers, telecommunications, or information security infrastructure; assesses impact, manages resources, and schedules work
- Manages relationships and services provided by external suppliers
- Manages network compliance and security requirements
- Establishes network, server, telecommunications, and information security infrastructure engineering standards, procedures, and documentation of architecture designs and operational protocols
- Responsible for developing and implementing short and long-range plans, conceptual designs, and capital outlay (budget) requirements and documentation for assigned area(s); evaluates and makes recommendations regarding new and current hardware, network and system software components
- Participates in monthly 24×7 support
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required or relevant job experience
- Must have four (4) years’ experience in managing enterprise server environments and/or campus-wide networks
