Marywood University: Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations

Marywood University is seeking a highly motivated and goal-oriented professional to serve as the Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations. This is a key role within the University Advancement team, responsible for building and managing meaningful partnerships with corporate/foundation donor prospects who have the ability to make gifts to support the identified needs of Marywood University. This position is charged with developing and implementing strategies for securing financial support from a portfolio of donor prospects, including identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts for the University.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Identify, develop, and manage a portfolio of active corporate and foundation prospects that provide the resources needed to meet the University's fund development goals.
- Develop and execute appropriate cultivation strategies including collaboration with University administrators, faculty, staff, and volunteers, as needed.
- Design and execute effective strategies relative to all aspects of the gift cycle upon identification and initiation of contacts with potential and existing donors.
- Move donors toward solicitation, including drafting of proposal, proformas, and other necessary documents to advance the solicitation process and closure, along with completion of appropriate stewardship duties.
- Collaborate with deans and other academic leaders on grants to obtain funding for academic programs, including communicating with foundation representatives regarding programming and funding opportunities.
- Assist in the corporate and foundation relations goal setting process and contribute to attainment of goals.
- Develop and implement solicitation efforts to secure financial support from vendors and the regional business community, including corporate sponsorships for academic initiatives, athletic initiatives, and key University events, including Celebrate Marywood.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skill, abilities):
- Proven experience in fundraising and in personally cultivating and soliciting prospects.
- Ability to articulate the case for support.
- Understanding of the needs and interests of donors to develop mutually beneficial relationships between donors and the University. Possess solid relationship-building skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, research, project management, and written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer service donor-centered approach.
- Ability to work individually and in a team environment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Five to seven years successful fundraising experience (with demonstrated financial results).
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in corporate/foundation or individual major gift fundraising, preferably in a higher education setting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS (bending/sitting/lifting/driving/etc.):
Sitting for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; seeing to read a variety of materials; hearing and speaking to exchange information; drive, walk, stand, and reach.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a strong commitment to the mission and goals of Marywood and the desire to assist this University in achieving these goals. Must be able to travel as needed. Must have valid driver's license. Weekends and evening work will be required.
