Job Summary:
We are a small business in the Interior Design / Construction industry, seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Bookkeeper to manage our day-to-day financial tasks. The ideal candidate will have experience with bookkeeping for small businesses, preferably in the construction industry.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily office operations and administrative functions
- Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile bank statements weekly.
- Prepare and complete monthly Sales & Use Tax filings
- Prepare and submit quarterly payroll tax reports and related filings
- Process biweekly payroll and payroll tax deposits
- Track project expenses and job costing.
- Monitor customer deposits and alert management of discrepancies or concerns.
- Ensure compliance with basic accounting principles and company policies.
- Maintain accurate financial records by recording daily transactions and reconciling accounts.
- Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements on a weekly basis.
- Utilize accounting software (Quickbooks), for efficient record-keeping and reporting.
- Collaborate with public accounting firms during audits and tax preparation as needed.
- Maintain employee records and onboarding documentation
- Coordinate with outside accountants, vendors, and clients
- Ensure adherence to accounting principles and company policies throughout all financial activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in the construction/contractor industry.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with payroll processing and related compliance requirements.
- Ability to write clear and concise financial reports for management review.
- Strong budgeting skills to assist in the planning of financial resources.
