Job Summary:

We are a small business in the Interior Design / Construction industry, seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Bookkeeper to manage our day-to-day financial tasks. The ideal candidate will have experience with bookkeeping for small businesses, preferably in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily office operations and administrative functions
  • Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Reconcile bank statements weekly.
  • Prepare and complete monthly Sales & Use Tax filings
  • Prepare and submit quarterly payroll tax reports and related filings
  • Process biweekly payroll and payroll tax deposits
  • Track project expenses and job costing.
  • Monitor customer deposits and alert management of discrepancies or concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with basic accounting principles and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate financial records by recording daily transactions and reconciling accounts.
  • Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
  • Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements on a weekly basis.
  • Utilize accounting software (Quickbooks), for efficient record-keeping and reporting.
  • Collaborate with public accounting firms during audits and tax preparation as needed.
  • Maintain employee records and onboarding documentation
  • Coordinate with outside accountants, vendors, and clients
  • Ensure adherence to accounting principles and company policies throughout all financial activities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in the construction/contractor industry.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience with payroll processing and related compliance requirements.
  • Ability to write clear and concise financial reports for management review.
  • Strong budgeting skills to assist in the planning of financial resources.
