COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

Signature Building Systems, a modular manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our Commercial Division.  This position will work on multifamily, hospitality, workforce housing, and other commercial modular projects throughout the Northeast.  The Estimator will work closely with Business Development, Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Transportation, and Project Management from initial project evaluation through contract and production.

*Salary $55,000 - $70,000 annually based on experience. 

Responsibilities:

• Review architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings to determine project scope.
• Prepare conceptual and detailed cost estimates for commercial modular projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, subcontractor, freight, crane, and installation budgets.
• Evaluate project risks, constructability, schedule impacts, and overall profitability.
• Work closely with Business Development to develop proposals and bid packages.
• Coordinate with engineering, purchasing, production, transportation, and project management during preconstruction.
• Assist with value engineering and identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining project requirements.
• Prepare order forms and project documentation for downstream departments.
• Support submittals and other preconstruction documentation.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical pricing, and cost libraries.
• Compare estimated costs versus actual project performance and recommend improvements.
• Attend customer meetings, pre-bid meetings, and occasional site visits.

 Qualifications:

• 3+ years of estimating or preconstruction experience in commercial construction.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods and sequencing.
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
• Analytical and quantitative skills.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to build strong relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.

Preferred Experience:

• Modular or off-site construction experience preferred, but not required
• Multifamily experience
• Design-build experience
• Manufacturing experience
