ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

The individual must be a dynamic, highly skilled student financial services professional, with an emphasis on financial aid knowledge and processes. The successful candidate will provide guidance to students, parents, and prospective students regarding financial aid and other pertinent financial counseling, including financial literacy/wellness and student accounts/billing. This position provides services to both enrolled and prospective students, and other college staff related to the financial aid applications process and financial aid policies, while making the overall experience as seamless as possible.

While this position works primarily remote with a key focus on delivering financial services to on-line students, this position is expected to travel to the College’s satellite Centers on a routine basis; and is expected to attend meetings and events as schedule, at the College’s main campus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide financial counseling to students/families in a secure setting to maintain strict confidentiality.
  2. Conduct individual interviews and group information sessions with potential and current students/families to inform them about all financial aid and payment options and opportunities, requirements, and the application process, requirements, to resolve balances in a timely and accurate manner. Sessions may be scheduled either in-person or virtually.
  3. Assist in the processing of the FAFSA and other required documents.
  4. Review financial aid applications for accuracy.
  5. Initiate and conduct follow-up activities to obtain necessary documentation and paperwork for all federal and state funding agencies.
  6. Answer questions pertaining to the student’s bill and account. 
  7. Process cash, checks, credit and debit cards payment transactions.
  8. Maintain current knowledge of federal and state regulations.
  9. Perform all other duties as assigned.

  9. High degree of professionalism with the ability to meet deadlines and follow through with required tasks and duties on a timely basis.
  10. Perform as a team player with the ability to be flexible as required to satisfactorily complete tasks and service students and parents.
  11. Ability to represent the College in a public setting and speak to large audiences during presentations.
  12. Available to work some evenings and weekends as needed for Open Houses, Orientations, Dorm Move-In as well as any other assigned workshops / seminars.
  13. Strong computer/internet skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint at a minimum.
  14. Ability to find solutions within Financial Aid guidelines.

EDUCATION:

-        Associates degree with 5 years of financial aid experience.

-        Bachelor’s Degree preferred with two (2) years financial aid knowledge in a position with responsibility for processing and providing quality service to students/families in an education environment. 

EXPERIENCE:

-        Must have demonstrated previous experience with the financial aid process, including packaging and awarding of federal Title IV and institutional financial aid in a higher education setting.

-        Experience with Financial Aid delivery systems. PowerFaids system experience is highly desirable.
