The Public Health Workforce Development Corps is an extension of the National Health Corps AmeriCorps program. We are currently accepting applications for ten members who will serve at health and dental clinics, community health programs or social service agencies dedicated to improving the health and well-being of NEPA residents.

To become a Public Health Workforce Development Corps member, applicants must:

  • Be a resident of Northeastern Pennsylvania
  • Members must be at least 18 years of age by the start of service.
  • Members must be U.S. Citizens, U.S. nationals, or lawful permanent residents. 
  • Members must have achieved a high school diploma or GED by the start of service. 
  • Members must not have previously served four AmeriCorps State or National terms.

The benefits include:

  • $15.00/hour living stipend for a one-year service term (2000) hours
  • Medical, dental and vision coverage, if needed
  • Assistance with childcare, if eligible
  • Access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), if eligilbe
  • A $6,345.00 Educational Award that can be paid to an existing student loan or used for future educational opportunities
  • Training as a Community Health Worker with eligiblity to become a Pennsylvania Certified Community Health Worker at the end of the service year.
